Chuck recalled in an article for the Owen Sound Sun-Times about a very wintery day in 1929 when regardless of the weather, the Postmaster said the mail must be delivered. So taking matters into his own hands, he loaded a bag of mail and one brave passenger onto the stagecoach, and set off for Meaford at 8 a.m. By 1 p.m. they had only made it as far as Meaford. They were forced to wait the storm out for 24 hours.
