Bob Renwick was seriously injured in a car accident on November 1, 1940, requiring him to be hospitalized until July of 1941. As a result, he was discharged from the Army on medical grounds. He re-enlisted with the 98th on August 11, 1941. Soldiers of the Ontario Canadian Armoured Division were heard on the CBC Sunday broadcast from Ottawa on July 12, 1942.
