5th Battalion

1914 – 1918

The 5th Battalion (Western Cavalry) was authorized in August, 1914, and left for Britain in September, 1915. The battalion fought in France and Flanders as part of the 2nd Infantry Brigade, 1st Canadian Division until the end of the war.

The battalion was disbanded in September, 1920, and is perpetuated by the North Saskatchewan Regiment.
