Daisy was the daughter of WWI veteran, John M. McLeod, and one of seven siblings who served in the Second World War. Her brothers, John Joseph and Alfred Joseph, were killed overseas. Two other brothers, Malcolm John and Charles Donald, were wounded. Two more brothers, Max and Reginald, also served in the Canadian Army. In 1972 Mrs. Mary McLeod was selected as the Silver Cross Mother of the year and laid the wreath at the National War Memorial in Ottawa.
