Born in Plymouth, England he lived there until 7 years old when he went to Ipswitch, England to the Dr. Bernardo home until he was 8 years old. He then went to Canada. Private Tope was diagnosed with exhaustion psychosis (mental exhaustion) and was enroute back to Canada when he contracted Influenza pneumonia. He passed away at the Cobourg Military Hospital on December 15, 1918. His surname is spelled "Toupe" on the Ripley cenotaph.Sources & Links
