Bill (regimental number 652040) enlisted with the 160th Bruce Battalion at Lion's Head March 21, 1916. At the time he was living with his family in Spry, where they farmed. Upon arrival in England, he was isolated and then hospitalized due to illness. He then rejoined his unit at Witley Camp. He was later transferred into the 10th Battalion Canadian Engineers and was ranked as Sapper. He received a gun shot wound to the left wrist in August of 1918. he was demobilized in 1919. Upon return to Canada he moved to Lion's Head, and married Myrtle Irene Sutter of Pike Bay March 16, 1920. According to the 1921 Canadian Census Bill and Myrtle lived on Lot 19, Concession 1 W, Eastnor Township. Bill died in 1977 and is buried in the Eastnor Township Cemetery.Sources & Links
