Location at Walkerton Cemetery: Plot # 1473 Row 9 Section N/W. Robert was the son of Albert and Bella Merchant, and the husband of Alice Hunt 1894-1969. He enlisted in the 160th Bruce Battalion. While serving with the 47th Battalion in France, he sustained shrapnel wounds in his chest from a mine explosion. He was treated in Boulogne; Hammersmith Hospital; and Epsom Convalescent; and eventually convalesced at Witley Camp before returning home to Canada.Sources & Links
