Flight Officer Elmer Proud was killed in action on the night of January 27/28, 1944 while co-piloting Lancaster DS. 709. The aircraft crashed near Bugk/Storkow, Germany with no survivors. The remains of F/O Proud remain missing. Elmer is the son of Reginald W. and Clara M. Proud of Eden Grove, Ontario.
