Notes
Originally enlisted at Valcartier with the 3rd Battalion. Discrepancies: Some of the information stated in the Paisley Advocate, November 17, 1915 article is not reflected in Walter's military records. There is nothing in his file to show that he was ever treated for a shrapnel or bullet wound. The battalion war diaries for 3rd Battalion contain an extensive list of dead, wounded and missing for the period in question. Sgt. Vickers name is not on it. Finally, it appears he was not in France on the dates in question. He did serve in South Africa and India with the South Wales Borderers. Married Victoria Bodt.News Clippings
