Notes

George was the son of Clarence & Maggie Smith, and husband to Mildred. He was drafted into the 1st Depot Battalion and served in France with the 1st Battalion Canadian Infantry. In October of 1918 he was reported missing and wounded, but was then found and sent to hospital with machine gun bullet wounds to his hips and legs. He was subsequently discharged due to his injuries. Location at Walkerton Cemetery: Plot # 918 Section W18
