His father, Fred Thomson, resided in Southampton, Ontario. A January 30, 1919, Southampton Beacon newspaper article references Lewis returning home to Southampton after doing his bit in France, recovering from wounds, and then training for the Flying Corps in England. His discharge documents express an intent to reside in Cache Bay, ON, after discharge.
