Notes

Alfred Joseph was the son of WWI veteran, John M. McLeod, and one of seven siblings who served in the Second World War. He and his brother, John Joseph, were killed overseas. Two other brothers, Charles Donald and Malcolm John, were wounded. Two more brothers and a sister, Max, Reginald and Daisy, also served in the Canadian Army. In 1972 Mrs. Mary McLeod was selected as the Silver Cross Mother of the year and laid the wreath at the National War Memorial in Ottawa.
