Ernest Raymond Henry was the son of Ernest Alfred Henry and Adeline Victoria Woods, who owned Henry’s book store in of Kincardine, Ontario. During the Second World War, Ernest served as a Flight Lieutenant with the Royal Canadian Air Force, after enlisting in Niagara Falls on August 8, 1940. Upon completion of training in June 1942, Ernest was posted to operation with 156 Squadron flying on Wellingtons. In late 1942 until October 1943, he was a Navigation Training Officer. From December 1943 to September 1944 he was on operations with 109 Squadron on Mosquitoes. By coincidence many Mosquitoes were built at the Malcolm Furniture factory which was next to the Henry family home, on Durham Street, Kincardine, Ontario. He was brother to Wing Commander Douglas Woods Henry, DFC and bar and Pilot Officer Ralph Henry. Ernest received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Bar.Sources & Links
